This solid brass sextant is a smaller version of the 10 1/2 inch one. An adjustable viewing scope is used to take different images. There are 6 different coloured glass filters. This solid brass sextant is 18 cm long and 18 cm wide. This is the smallest of the hand held sextants. It comes with a wooden box.

This sextant has the six coloured filters for adjusting the intensity of sunlight. A lever under the arm moves the gears in the appropriate direction desired. The arch of the scale measures 18 cm (7 inches) and it weighs 2.5 kgs.

Brass Pocket Sextant (Code: S9)
Also called a box sextant. Edward Troughton invented this unique instrument in the early 17th century. It opens up with the cover that becomes a grip for taking readings. To take the image, a little scope pulls out from the side. A filter also swings out, when not needed it folds back inside. The readings are read of the scale with the tiny adjustable magnifying glass on the top. It is 8 cm in diameter and 4 cm deep with the cover under the top. This unique and unusual instrument comes with a wooden box.

Brass Abney Level (Code: S10)
The Abney Level is named after Captain William Abney of the School of Military Engineering, Chatham, England. It is also called an "Angle Sextant" and measures the angle of inclination. Aligning the bubble with a line in the scope helps read the angle of inclination off the vernier scale on the side. A little magnifier helps to read the angle of the scale. The Abney Level comes with a wooden box. The length is 12 cm. It stands 6 cm tall and weighs 180 grams.

This is a beautiful looking lifeboat sextant in a glass top box. The sextant is around 6" and has a wooden handle. It is an exact replica of the ones made in 1917. The sextant is functional.
All parts are moving and it has the filters from the sun too.
It comes in a great presentation box made of wood. The sides of the box are wood and the top lid has a glass on it with a brief description of the sextant. It is a unique piece. It is one of a kind and would made a lovely addition to any collection.
Also makes for a great desplay item in a nautical theme. The sextant is finished in this gun metal looking patina, over a solid brass frame.
